The Cathedral Organ

The Cathedral Pipe Organ in the rear Gallery.

  • Originally installed by the W.W. Kimball Company of Chicago in 1911; Tubular Pneumatic action

  • 3 manuals and pedals

  • Electric key action installed in 1924 by Fred Munier company, (predecessor to Morel and Associates)

  • Modifications by Dewey Layton in 1955

  • New Organ Keydesk, electromechanical windchests, solid state switching, multi-level piston memory, repair and revoicing of original pipework as well as tonal additions, 1996 by Morel And Associates.

  • Current specification includes four divisions, two under expression, 48 ranks and 37 stops. Prepared for stops on console for future additions.

The Chime/Bell Tower

  • Bells are composed of the purest copper and tin of proper proportions.

  • They are arranged in the tower in a strong frame and the four larger bells are equipped with complete mountings, so that they may be used independently of the remaining bells and rung as a peal.

  • System is equipped to get any modulation of tone desired.

  • One of the largest and most complete chimes in this country.

  • The bells are from the McShane Bell Foundry Company, Baltimore, Maryland.
