Sacred Sounds in a Sacred Place |
The Cathedral Music Ministry CD is now available!
This CD, entitled, “Sacred Sounds in a Sacred Space” features the Cathedral Choir, the magnificent 1912 Kimball/Morel pipe organ, hymns of the church as sung by choir and congregation, and the contemporary choir. The selections heard are evocative of the experience of attending Mass in the basilica; the four Marian Chants sung at the end of the liturgy are prominently featured, as well as sacred motets in devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, and seasonal reflections. The CD is available in the Cathedral Gift shop after masses for $15.00.

The Cathedral Choir |
The Cathedral Choir numbers 20+ singers, comprised of both staff singers and volunteers. The Cathedral Choir sings the gamut of music for the church from chant to modern compositions. Contemporary Choir |
Contemporary Music Notes sings weekly at the 6:30 PM weekend Mass under the direction of Eric Brandenberg. This choir sings both contemporary hymns offered in a refrain/antiphon style and Catholic Contemporary Classic Songs.

Every third Sunday of the month the students and community from Mariachi Los Correcaminos de MSU Denver (Metropolitan State University) participate in celebrating the music for the liturgy of the Mass with compositions from the library of Catholic hymns in Spanish.

The Archdiocesan Chorale is made up of 54 talented singers throughout the Archdiocese. Many of the SATB members serve as Directors of Music Ministries in parishes throughout the Archdiocese. They are brought together to enhance the liturgical music at major Archdiocesan Liturgies held at the Cathedral. Membership is by invitation only.

Cantors |
Cantors in the Cathedral Basilica are music staff professionals; all are degreed musician., The cantor leads the assembly in the role of cantor/psalmist, and leader of sung response. They share duties on a rotating basis at all Cathedral masses, i.e., weekend and holy day masses, funerals, weddings, and any scheduled event requiring the leadership from a cantor.
